The continuation of the project of the new edition of the Marques de collections de dessins et d'estampes by Frits Lugt requires enormous financial resources.
 
That is why, fund-raising began on 31 March 2003 with a public auction of drawings and prints, held in the Hôtel Drouot in Paris. Countless art dealers, collectors and institutions generously donated drawings and prints for this event. The auction was organised under the generous supervision of Me Lucien Solanet (PIASA), in collaboration with the experts Gérard Auguier, Bruno de Bayser and Hubert Prouté. The proceeds were passed in full to the Société Frits Lugt pour l'Étude des Marques de Collections (Association loi du 1er juillet 1901), the foundation specially created in view of the revised edition.
 
Much money is still needed however; the Société Frits Lugt (SFL) is counting on the support of all those interested in the research and the diffusion of the knowledge of collectors' marks on works on paper.
